Book detailing ‘honour killings’ in India, told by those you’ve likely never heard of: the runaway couples and their helpers.

In the early months of 2011, while on a long train journey heading to New Delhi, I sat next to and had a long conversation with a young girl called Haarti. She was fearing for her life and was on the run from her family as she was in love with a boy from a different caste who her parents would never accept. The lovers’ only hope was the ’Love Commandos’, an activist group who tries to protect and help the frightened runaway couples at a secret location in the centre of old Delhi.
